FACTORS THAT AGGRAVATE FLACCIDITY
Loss of skin tone associated to intrinsic ageing is essentially due to the chronological ageing in all those areas that are not exposed to photoaging. Certain circumstances cane favour the appearance of premature flaccidity:
- Pregnancy
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Sudden weight changes
- Menopause, accompanied by a decrease in the production of type IV collagen
- The appearance of stretch marks as a consequence of hormonal problems, pregnancy or sudden weight changes resulting in the rupture of the elastin fibres (responsible for the elastic component of the skin) and the rupture of collagen. When skin is under great tension, the fibres subjected to the most stress break and the new tissue scars, replacing the original tissue.
- Smoking, alcohol and photoaging also favour the appearance of flaccidity
